Flux capsule contains fluoxetine in it which belongs to SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) class of antidepressants. SSRIs work by increasing serotonin (happy hormone) levels in the brain. Fluoxetine is indicated for treating depression and other mental health conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) & panic disorder. It helps enhance mood, reduces anxiety & tension, and helps in sleeping better.

Side effects:

Most side effects occur for a short period & are mild. Common side effects like indigestion, nausea, fatigue, dry mouth, increased sweating, loss of appetite, insomnia (trouble sleeping), sinusitis, decreased sexual drive, delayed ejaculation, and abnormal dreams can occur. If condition persist or worsens, consult doctor/pharmacist immediately.

How To Use

For oral administration i.e. taken via the mouth

For dose instructions, follow the prescribed course of therapy given by the doctor or pharmacist

Take the medicine with a full glass of water

Can be taken with or without food

In case a dose is missed, then take it as soon as you remember on the same day. However, if next day has arrived, then take only that day’s dose and do not double it.

The medicine course should be completed as recommended by the doctor/pharmacist even if you see symptoms subsiding.

No, fluoxetine should not be abruptly stopped as it causes withdrawal symptoms. Consult doctor, and he/she will start giving you small doses and slowly stop Flux use.

In most patients a dose of 20mg per day is recommended but if patient does not respond to this dose, then after some weeks, dose can be increased to 60mg/day.

How much fluoxetine can be given in older patients?

In patients above 65 or having liver impairment are recommended the dose of 20 mg/day.

Is it possible that I will gain weight if I take fluoxetine?

With medicines like antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers, weight gain can occur.

What are the signs of overdose with antidepressants?

They include confusion, agitation/restlessness, dilated pupils, muscle rigidity, heavy sweating, diarrhea etc.

Instructions

Inform doctor of all medicines whether over the counter (like vitamins or herbal supplements etc.) or prescription medicines like tramadol, diuretics, amoxapine, & bromocriptine etc., that you may be taking as they can interact with Flux and produce serious side effects.
